Travis Kelce has claimed that the San Francisco 49ers’ tight end, George Kittle, is the best in the division placing him above even himself ahead of the Super Bowl showdown with Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, February 11.

It’s high praise as Kelce himself is still very much on the top of his game and has the chance to become a three-time Super Bowl winner if he emerges victorious from the game between the champions of the AFC Conference and the winners of the NFC Conference.

“The king of Tight End U,” Kelce said to media. “He’s the best tight end in the league, and deservingly so this year.

“He’s been playing lights out, playing the best football of his career and really catapulting that San Fran team through the playoffs.

“I couldn’t be more proud of him, couldn’t be more honored to go up against George in another Super Bowl. Can’t say enough amazing things about who he is as a guy and who his family is. Can’t say a bad thing about him.”

Travis Kelce is really living the dream right now with Taylor Swift and here’s proof

Kelce won his two rings in 2019, when they beat the 49ers 31-20 and in 2023, when he overcame his brother, Jason, at Super Bowl LVII when the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35. Kelce scored touchdowns in both of the contests, playing a significant role in the triumphs.

George Kittle’s 2023 stats vs Kelce’s

With Kelce’s praise in mind, what is the gap he self-perceives between himself and Kittle? Here is how they matched up statistically throughout 2023’s regular season across 16 games.

Through 2023, Kelce has made 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns from a total of 121 targets from the team’s star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. He has averaged 10.6 yards per carry but had done no rushing during the regular season.

Kittle, on the other hand, made 65 receptions from 90 targets but out-performed his rival by rushing for 15.7 yards per carry for a total of 1020 yards across the regular season. He added six touchdowns to his name, but like Kelce, did next to no rushing.
