Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, SNL writers who make up the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy, appeared on a recent episode of Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out podcast. “We worked with both Taylor and Travis Kelce before they got together,” he said. “…She kinda told us she watched his SNL episode and saw him in our video and was like, ‘Oh, this guy seems funny.’”

Marshall joked that his comedy group “a little bit brought them together.”

Swift, meanwhile, has hosted and served as the musical guest for SNL multiple times through the years. In 2021, she starred in a musical skit alongside Please Don’t Destroy and Pete Davidson in “Three Sad

After Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in September 2023, they made surprise SNL cameos on the Oct. 14 episode. Swift introduced her pal, Ice Spice as the musical guest, and Kelce appeared in a “Fox NFL Sunday” skit.
