TAYLOR Swift secretly recorded a track with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy which almost appeared on her record-breaking album 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Slut! was written in early 2014 when the pair first dated, but it failed to make the cut for 1989, released in October of that year.

However, we can reveal she decided to revisit the track for her re-recording of the album last year, after she rekindled her romance with Matty — when he recorded his verse.

But after they split again at the end of May the decision was reversed, and he was taken off the track once again.

The song — minus Matty — about her frustration at being “slut-shamed” after dating a string of famous men including singers Harry Styles and Joe Jonas and actor Jake Gyllenhaal, was among the tracklist for 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

But the story doesn’t end there. Now, in what appears to be an epic printing error, multiple vinyl records have been sent out including lyrics from a missing verse from Matty, with the track labelled as “featuring The 1975.”

The lyrics include: “Days shrink into long nights now. Plus 44 on an American phone.

“Cat eye running her cheekbone. But it’s elegant. I tell you, ‘you are not a slut, you’re just relevant’.”

It’s not the first time Taylor had opted to work with a former flame for a bonus track on one of her re-recorded albums.

Taylor released her third re-record album Speak Now In July last year, her 2010 album written in part about her relationship with Twilight actor Taylor Lautner.

Setting social media alight, she opted to feature him in the music video for her saved song I Can See You.

Matty confirmed in November 2022 that he and Taylor had recorded together, though he also hinted the track was initially for her tenth album Midnights.

He said: “We actually worked a bit on that, but then (that) version of it never came out.

“It didn’t work out for reasons that are not to be criticised. She’s amazing.”

Taylor’s decision to not release any of her studio sessions with Matty will hit him in the pocket as 1989 (Taylor’s Version) went on to become the biggest-selling album of last year.

As well as topping charts around the world, it also outsold the original.

Thankfully, given her current boyfriend Travis Kelce is an American footballer, there’s little chance of them working together.
