Although the Golden State Warriors are having a very up-and-down 2023-24 season, their outcome versus the Boston Celtics was completely unexpected. The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, crushed the Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, by an incredible 52 points. This turned into the third-worst defeat in the Golden State Warriors franchise history. The Celtics’ 140-88 triumph over the Lakers on Sunday appears to be a statement win for Boston.

That, of course, set off a chain reaction online, with people debating whether or not this was the end of their career. Notably, Shannon Sharpe and Gilbert Arenas engaged in a heated conversation regarding the Warriors’ current situation on their nightcap program. They both questioned the Warriors’ overall structure of operation and the fact that Stephen Curry has been the only player expected to carry the team.

Jayson Tatum with 27 Points vs. Golden State Warriors

That got one superstar and that's Steph.

Gilbert Arenas on his end, added,

The Golden State Warriors, the only reason we say they a chance because of Curry. For the most part the team is done.

Then Sharpe shifted to Klay Thompson and criticized how he has been playing throughout the season.

They also discussed Ocho and Moses Moody. Arenas thinks this team is already finished. He clarified that even though Curry is too good to win games by himself, everyone still gives them a chance.

Stephen Curry acknowledged the Boston Celtics for their superior performance

The Golden State Warriors, who had won 11 of their previous 13 games, came into their game against the Boston Celtics on a roll. But the Celtics’ 140-88 rout proved to be a harsh reality as they overwhelmed them. Curry respectfully acknowledged the Celtics as the best NBA team at the time and thanked them after the win.

They are the best team in the league right now and they play like that. Give them credit. They came out and whooped us tonight from the jump.

Curry’s difficulties were apparent as he did not play in the second half and finished with a season-low of just four points.

Curry, who had right knee bursitis and was listed as questionable, decided to play after warming up. However, the Celtics had a different plan, which they flawlessly carried out and put on a sensational display of skills and work ethic.
